OLOL Ski Trip 2026 Ponte di Legno, Italy Day 1: Some footage from day 1 on the slopes. Everyone doing extremely well. 🎿⛷️
📚 World Book Day 📚 At OLOL, reading for pleasure plays a vital role in helping young people grow as confident, curious, and creative learners. When students choose to read simply because they enjoy it, they strengthen their imagination, develop empathy, expand their vocabulary, and build the literacy skills that support success across every subject. On World Book Day, Year 8’s took that joy one step further with our Reading for Pleasure Challenge—inviting students to read in the most unique and unexpected places around the school. From cosy corners and stairwells to science labs and sports halls, our Year 8’s embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and humour. The photos captured along the way show not only the fun we had, but also the shared love of stories that brings us together. ⚫️🔴⚫️🔴
📚📚 World Book Day 📚📚 This World Book Day, Mrs McAleese’s Year 8 class combined creativity, literacy, and a love of sport through a unique and imaginative project: designing football kits inspired by their favourite novels. Each kit was carefully crafted to reflect the key themes, characters, and settings of the chosen books, transforming pages and plotlines into visual storytelling. Students explored how colours, patterns, and symbols could represent the atmosphere and ideas within their novels. The results were vibrant, thoughtful, and wonderfully inventive - showcasing not only artistic skill but also a deep understanding of the literature behind each design. ⚽️⚽️
8L worked on their oracy skills on Wednesday by carefully describing an image on the board for their partner to draw, focusing on accuracy, clarity, and active listening. 🔴⚫️🔴⚫️
Italy, here we come! 🇮🇹⛷️ Heading off today for an amazing week on our school ski trip — mountains, snow, and hopefully some great runs! ❄️🏔️
🎤Unplugged 2026🎸 Last night we enjoyed a fantastic evening of live music from our very talented pupils. We had instrumentalists, soloists, bands and choirs ranging from Year 8 to Year 12 performing pop, rock and musical theatre songs, and they were all incredible 👏 Photos and videos will follow, but here’s a snippet of our finale... last weekend Alex Warren released the extremely catchy ‘Fever Dream’ and 5 days later, 50 of our pupils performed it live on stage... we hope you enjoy it as much as we did! 😁
Student Voice This week our Student Council proudly led a KS3 assembly to update pupils on all the fantastic work taking place across the school. Students shared details about upcoming initiatives, fundraising plans, new club ideas, and proposals being discussed with staff. It was a great opportunity to ensure every pupil’s voice is heard and to show how suggestions are being turned into action. Well done to our Student Council representatives for speaking so confidently and representing their peers so positively!
Today six of our Year 12 students represented the school excellently at the Causeway Coast and Glens Pupil Voice event at Ulster University, Coleraine. Students got the opportunity to question local councillors about a range of issues which are important to them. 🔴⚫️🔴⚫️
Well done to our U15 footballers on their win against Ballycastle High School today. A special congratulations to Liam, who capped off the performance with a brilliant hat-trick! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Trócaire Representative visits Our Lady of Lourdes School to launch 2026 Lenten Campaign Our Lady of Lourdes School, Ballymoney, was delighted to welcome Roisin O’Hara from Trócaire as a special guest to officially launch the school’s 2026 Lenten fundraising campaign. Roisin met with KS3 pupils, offering an engaging and inspiring session that highlighted the important work Trócaire carries out around the world. During her visit, pupils enjoyed a thought-provoking presentation explaining: · What Trócaire does · The global issues they address · The countries and communities they support The session helped pupils understand how their fundraising efforts directly contribute to improving lives in some of the world’s most vulnerable regions. To make the event even more interactive, Roisin hosted a quiz and Q&A session, giving pupils the chance to test their knowledge and learn even more about Trócaire’s mission. Winners were delighted to receive Easter Eggs as prizes — all made using sustainably sourced cocoa, reinforcing Trócaire’s commitment to ethical and responsible global practices. The visit provided an excellent foundation for the school’s Lenten campaign, inspiring pupils to get involved, think globally, and support those in need.
